The Roanoke (Ala.) Police Department is replacing 11 of its vehicles using a federal grant and loan, as well as simplifying the design scheme to improve maintenance efficiency.

The agency acquired a $235,900 loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and a USDA grant for $37,600, reports the Randolph Leader. The agency has begun ordering 2015 Chevrolet Impala Limited cars with a police package and equipment.

The new design on the car says "Serving Our Community" and shows the vehicle number. The earlier more-elaborate design was more difficult to repair, Chief Adam Melton told the news outlet.
