Pitkin County, Colo., will take on maintenance, repair, and fuel services for the Aspen Fire Protection District’s 23 vehicles. County commissioners approved the intergovernmental agreement last month, the Aspen Times reported.

The move comes after a service mechanic within the fire district, who previously serviced the vehicles, left his role. The county will hire a full-time technician to work on the vehicles, which will be paid for by the estimated $100,000 in labor charges the county expects to bill.
