Mario Guzman, CAFM, was named the general services manager at the City of West Palm Beach, Fla. Guzman was previously the fleet administrator for the nearby City of Boynton Beach. He started his new position on Aug. 11.
In his new position, Guzman reports to Deputy City Administrator Dorritt Miller and oversees both fleet and facilities. He describes the job as more of an administrative function. He oversees 28 employees, including two fleet operations supervisors and a general services superintendent.
Guzman’s first goals at the city are to focus on re-establishing the vehicle replacement fund and standardizing vehicle replacements.
West Palm Beach is county seat of Palm Beach County and its largest city. The fleet consists of about 1,900 units and employs 11 technicians.
Guzman became Boynton Beach’s fleet administrator in August 2012, where he oversaw the management of just under 700 units. Before that, he worked for Palm Beach County’s Fleet Management Division for 13 years.
The City of Boynton Beach is in the process of interviewing candidates for the fleet administrator position.
