Paul Condran was named the 2014 Public Sector Fleet Manager of the Year at the Government Fleet Expo and Conference today during an awards ceremony.

Condran, fleet services manager for the City of Culver City, Calif., was chosen among three finalists for the award. This year, there were 15 qualified nominees.

As he took the podium to accept the award, Condran said he was genuinely suprised to be chosen.

"It's an overwhelming feeling," Condran said. "Our success wouldn't happen if it wasn't for our team."

A panel of judges consisting of working fleet managers reviews each candidate in 10 categories: business plan, technology implementation, productivity, policies, preventive maintenance program, utilization management, replacement program, customer service, fuel management, and safety.

In addition to excelling in these categories, Condran is known in the industry for being an early adopter of compressed natural gas (CNG). He has said one of his proudest accomplishments is guiding another fleet through CNG implementation and being able to witness its succes.

The Culver City fleet consists of 530 units. It is a 2014 Elite Fleet and was named the No. 1 fleet in 2013. The Public Fleet Manager of the Year award is sponsored by Lytx, formerly DriveCam, and General Motors.
