Tampa Fleet Achieves 3rd Year of ASE Blue Seal Recognition

The City of Tampa, Fla., Department of Public Works, Fleet Maintenance Division has earned Blue Seal of Excellence recognition as prescribed by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). To be eligible for this recognition, 75% of an organization’s automotive professionals must be ASE certified; the City’s fleet staff has exceeded this requirement, with 90% of fleet’s technical staff having obtained certification, according to the division’s Chief of Operations Connie White-Arnold.
Fleet Maintenance employs 29 technicians. Of these, 26 hold ASE certifications, and eight are Master-certified technicians. Fleet staff maintain an overall total of 178 ASE certifications. In addition, the department employs four Master emergency vehicle technicians (EVTs).
The Division maintains a diverse fleet of 3,200 vehicles and pieces of equipment that includes Refuse and Fire. This is the department’s third consecutive year achieving this status. In addition, the fleet was also recognized as one of the 100 Best Fleets in North America for the fourth consecutive year.
