SANTA ANA, CA – The City of Santa Ana’s Facilities-Fleet Maintenance-Central Stores (FMCS) staff have received an ASE Blue Seal honor. This honor recognizes a select group of public and private fleet organizations whose staff and facilities meet ASE professional standards. To receive the honor, 75% of the technicians who perform diagnosis and repair must be ASE-certified. Also, each service area a maintenance operation offers must be covered by at least one ASE-certified technician. In addition, the operation must have one technician who is ASE-certified in Alternative Energy Technology.

To earn ASE-certification, a fleet technician must pass either written or computer-based tests in specific subject areas, for example brakes, electrical/electronic systems, and engine performance. ASE-certified technicians must also recertify every five years. To maintain the Blue Seal honor, ASE evaluates maintenance operations annually to ensure that technicians’ professional credentials remain current.
