TROY, NY – In an era when municipal government organizations are under scrutiny for just about everything, The New York State Comptroller’s Office found Rensselaer County’s fleet maintenance records are well maintained and are a valuable resource for tracking costs.

The assessment tracked records from Jan. 1, 2008 through Oct. 31, 2009. County documents state it has a fleet of 283 vehicles and heavy equipment. Of that total, 207 are light-duty trucks and sedans, half of which are assigned to the Highway and Sheriff’s Departments. During the examination period, the County purchased 24 vehicles.
