BROOKSVILLE, FL - Hernando County commissioners on August 17 made several moves designed to reduce a budget deficit that currently stands at $2.3 million, including outsourcing fleet maintenance and halting all vehicle purchases, according to Hernando Today.

Commissioners said the county spends about $252,000 a year on vehicle maintenance, and the fleet department overcharges for simple procedures.

County Administrator David Hamilton said he will take these cost-savings ideas under advisement and report back formally with a report at the board's Aug. 31 meeting, according to Hernando Today.
