BRADENTON, FL – Manatee County, located in Bradenton, is led by a spirited and undaunted fleet leader, Michael Brennan. He and his staff have spearheaded several initiatives that include:

· The cutting of take home vehicles by 77 percent saving the County $231,000 in operating costs per year.

· Conducting a comprehensive utilization study that resulted in the reassignment of many vehicles and replacing only 10 pieces of equipment rather than the 109 that were originally targeted and budgeted for replacement. This resulted in a savings of $3.8 million dollars for the County.

· After scrutinizing his replacement criteria and analyzing results, he was able to extend the fleet average replacement cycle from 8.2 years to 9.3 years resulting in a $431,000 capital cost reduction.

Despite oppositions from others, Brennan knows this is the right thing for the taxpayers of the County and, because he had the information to support the actions taken, he has the support of the people at the top.

What is even more amazing about these accomplishments is that his administrative offices normally located within his central facility are being completely refurbished causing he and his staff to work in challenging conditions on site, and at another site during reconstruction shuttling between the two to get the job done. Just another challenge for this team leader to overcome.
