The Virginia Beach (Va.) Police Department has purchased 1,060 body and in-car cameras for agency-wide deployment from Axon. This order was received in the first quarter of 2018 and will ship in multiple phases.

The Police Department will roll out 250 Axon Fleet in-car video systems, 560 Axon Body 2 cameras, and 250 Axon Signal Units.

The Fleet in-car video system works with other Axon products to turn on wirelessly, by sensing events to start capturing footage. The system includes retina HD video, front- and rear-facing cameras, wireless off-load, pre-event buffer, and encryption to protect data.

Other significant Fleet in-car video system orders that Axon received in the past few months include 300 systems from the Fayetteville (N.C.) Police Department, 120 systems from the Fort Myers (Fla.) Police Department, 215 systems from the Greensboro (N.C.) Police Department, 175 systems from the Asheville (N.C.) Police Department, 60 systems from the Vacaville (Calif.) Police Department, and 62 systems from the Lansing (Mich.) Police Department.
