The City of Walla Walla, Wash., is set to spend nearly $1 million on new emergency-response vehicles, My Columbia Basin reported.

The Walla Walla Police department is slated to receive eight new police vehicles, two of which will go to its K-9 unit, totaling around $500,000. The rest of the allotment, nearly $400,000 is prioritized for a new fire truck.

Typically, the department replaces patrol cars every three years, but this time around they waited four years, officials told the news source. Money for the police and fire vehicles will be taken from the city’s general fund and the police departments vehicle replacement fund.
