The Dayton Police Department in Ohio is installing vaults in 126 unmarked cars and trucks following the theft of the police chief’s service weapon, reports Dayton Daily News.

City records obtained by Dayton Daily News suggest the chief’s vehicle was left unlocked. Shortly after the incident, the department announced it would install firearm storage vaults in all 126 unmarked vehicles. Installation cost less than $10,000, and was paid for with forfeiture funds.
