Kane County, Ill., is considering an idle-reduction plan that's expected to save 790 gallons of fuel a year and prevent 15,800 pounds of carbon-dioxide from entering the atmosphere.

The plan has been recommended by the county's Energy and Environmental Committee for the county's fleet of 273 vehicles, reports the Kane County Chronicle.

The reduction in fuel use achieved by the plan would save the county about $2,000 per year in fuel costs.
