Utah County Builds CNG Station for Refuse Trucks

Salt Lake County, Utah, is constructing a time-fill compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station for its refuse vehicles.
Clean Energy will design, build, operate, and maintain a private time-fill CNG station for the county, which plans to fuel 25 CNG refuse trucks. The county plans increase its CNG refuse fleet to 50 trucks, which would consume approximately 500,000 GGEs annually.
“Prudent fiscal and environmental stewardship of Salt Lake County are paramount concerns for the department. Clean Energy was selected to help us with this stewardship based on their experience and innovative service and support plan. We look forward to working with them as we begin implementing our on-site CNG fueling program,” said Greg Nuzman, fleet division manager, Salt Lake County.
The station is expected to be operational by mid-2015 and will feature a redundant compression system, according to the company. To support the station, Clean Energy will open a new parts warehouse within the county and hire a full-time station technician for the area.
