NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR – The City of North Little Rock, Ark., recently added 13 compressed natural-gas-fueled vehicles to its fleet, with nine of them being Chevrolet Tahoe PPVs. The City stated it converted the patrol vehicles to compressed natural gas (CNG) via the CNG Conversion Rebate Program, which is operated by the Arkansas Clean Cities (ACC) coalition in the Arkansas Energy Office.

The vehicle conversions cost roughly $12,000 each, and the City receiving $77,048 in State Energy Program Recovery Act funds to help pay for them.

Related to this effort, the City opened a publicly owned CNG fueling station, the first in the state, in August 2011. The state currently has three public and two private CNG stations, and two more are scheduled to open in the near future, according to the City.
