TORRANCE, CA – Honda delivered a new 2013-MY Fit EV to the City of Torrance, Calif. as part of the automaker’s Honda Electric Vehicle Demonstration Program. Steve Center, vice president of the Environmental Business Development Office at American Honda, presented a key to the vehicle to Torrance’s Mayor Frank Scotto.

"Today, in our partnership with Honda and their continuing efforts in renewable technologies, we will be driving into a more sustainable future," said Scotto.

According to Honda, during 2011 and now into 2012, Honda and the city of Torrance have gathered input from Torrance residents about potential recharging station locations. The automaker and City have also participated in public awareness events with a Fit EV test vehicle. Honda and the City plan to continue these initiatives while studying local government fleet usage of an electrified vehicle. Honda stated that the City of Torrance will also receive a Honda plug-in hybrid for additional testing at a later date.

Beyond testing the Fit EV with the City of Torrance, Honda plans for Stanford University and Google to each receive a FIT EV for testing.
