The City of Mississauga in Ontario, Canada, has signed a CAD $2.1 million contract extension with Webtech Wireless to expand use of the Fleet Center GPS/AVL fleet management solution. The contract more than doubles the number of vehicles monitored, going from 352 to 728 units. The five-year contract includes two optional one-year contract extensions for the company’s winter operations and fleet monitoring solutions.

The contract includes deployment of Webtech Fleet Center, along with technology upgrades to 3G valued at approximately $500,000; Winter Light Up, a winter program that ensures fleet preparedness before the winter season; monthly licensing of Webtech 511, a GPS/AVL mobile app for citizens; and route completion and live service mapping that shows which roads have been plowed.

Earlier this year, the city deployed and launched "Mississauga Roads," a mobile app for citizens powered by Webtech 511. The mobile app provides residents with status updates of winter operations within each neighborhood and displays the location of snow plows as they travel their routes.

The city first implemented Webtech Wireless’ solutions more than five years ago in public works, parks and recreation, and road maintenance vehicles.
