Sprint and Geotab announced that Geotab plug-and-play fleet management solutions are now available to states, local government entities, and authorized non-profit organizations purchasing on the Western States Contracting Alliance (WSCA/NASPO) cooperative purchasing contract.*  WSCA/NASPO is a national consortium of states that enables multi-state contracting to help states and local government entities acquire quality services in a cost-effective and efficient manner.

Recognized as an industry leader in fleet solutions, Geotab offers one of the most versatile and powerful plug-and-play fleet management solution on the market today. This solution combines the simplicity of plug-and-play with state-of-the-art analytics and easy-to-use Web-based user tools and reports to help customers effectively manage their fleet by knowing in real time where their vehicles are and what they are doing.

Geotab solutions with the GO6 device enable fleet managers to track and monitor vehicle locations, identify driving behaviors, optimize driver dispatch and routing, and improve the overall health of their fleets with maintenance reminders and alerts.  Additionally, Geotab now offers the ability to track each driver even if they are driving different vehicles.

The GO6 is a proprietary device designed and engineered by Geotab. It offers the versatility to support any type of vehicle with the use of a special J-BUS adaptor and the unique ability to expand capabilities with Garmin navigation, Iridium satellite, sensors, and other add-ons using a special expander cable called the IOX.  The device plugs into the vehicle’s OBDII (OBD2) port – where it then reads and sends vehicle health, location, and driving style information back to the Geotab Web-based application.

“The public sector is an important area that Geotab telematics technology addresses when it comes to optimizing asset use and maintenance,” said Colin Sutherland, vice president, Sales, Geotab. “We are proud to join with Sprint in bringing powerful advantages to fleet managers, including the ability to lower fuel costs, prevent vehicle wear and tear, prioritize vehicle maintenance, and qualify for insurance discounts.”

“We are pleased to extend our current Geotab Connected Fleet solution to states and local agencies,” said Ben Vos, vice president and general manager, Emerging Solutions Group, Sprint. “Plug-and-play fleet management solutions are a key part of our portfolio, providing a powerful, yet easy-to-use tool for driving impactful savings and efficiencies. Geotab solutions align well with Sprint’s commitment to safe and secure driving. We also look forward to continuing to supply a great value, network and solutions to WSCA/NASPO.”

Sprint’s open approach to M2M is built on flexible network architecture, combined with collaborative relationships among customers, vendors and Sprint’s dedicated team of experienced solutions engineers. Sprint brings all these elements together with a focus on understanding each fleet operator’s business, then acting as an integrator to produce the most efficient end-to-end solutions package for the specific need.

Sprint’s secure network supports connected fleet solutions by enabling accuracy and reliability for an expansive range of telematics applications. To ensure that the growing demand for telematics and other advanced solutions will be met, Sprint has embarked on Network Vision, a multiyear network initiative designed to enhance customers’ experience with faster data speeds, improved voice quality and easier connectivity.

*The Geotab Fleet Solution has been added to the Master Service Agreement for Services of Independent Contract (Contract #1907) between the Western States Contracting Alliance (WSCA/NASPO) and Sprint dated April 12, 2012 (the “WSCA Master Agreement”).  Authorized Buyers, such as states, local government entities and authorized non-profit organizations, may place orders directly under the WSCA Master Agreement with Sprint for the Geotab solutions with the GO6 device.  The WSCA Master Agreement currently expires on October 31, 2016. The terms and conditions of the WSCA Master Agreement will apply to any order place under this Agreement.  Additional terms and conditions may apply.
