CHARLESTON, WV - Governor Joe Manchin has introduced a bill to formalize his proposal for the creation of a single, statewide Fleet Management Office to regulate state vehicle use, according to the Charleston Gazette.

The Manchin administration bill (SB219) would give the office, within the Department of Administration, control over all state vehicles.

The Department of Administration currently has a one-person office that oversees its vehicle fleet, but it has control of only about 1,700 of the total of nearly 7,000 vehicles owned by various state agencies, reported the Gazette.

Committee Chairman Ed Bowman, D-Wetzel, said no agencies should be exempt.

The bill goes to the Senate Finance Committee.
