The Association of Washington Business (AWB) recently recognized Terex Aerial Work Platforms’ Genie brand with its Manufacturing Excellence Award for innovation. The annual awards acknowledge unparalleled Washington manufacturers for innovation and operational excellence.

Selected from hundreds of Washington businesses, Genie received the award due to its “significant progress in designing, developing and delivering a blockbuster product concept,” the AWB stated in a press release announcing this year’s award winners. “This honoree has maintained a competitive advantage by sustaining considerable innovation while remaining responsive to market demands. The products made at its facilities are unique and innovative.”

This year, Genie created a buzz around the world by introducing significantly innovative and unique products. One such product is the Genie SX-180 boom, the world’s tallest of its kind and an engineering spectacle. It has a platform height of 180 feet and can be driven while fully extended. The stowed length shrinks it down to a mere 47 feet  and the retracted width to 98 inches making it transportable without special over-width permits. The lift capacity is an impressive 750 lbs. The engineering vision is that this boom represents the direction for all future Genie “super booms.”

“Genie has a tremendous history in the state of Washington. The company started here and we have a very talented, skillful and diverse workforce,” said Matt Fearon, president of Terex Aerial Work Platforms. “We are proud to receive the Manufacturing Excellence Award for innovation from AWB and we thank them for the support they have given us over the years.”
