Equipped with the optional snow blower or snow blade, the Alamo Industrial TRAXX RF can handle some of the toughest snow removal jobs on hilly terrain. But in the summer months, the unit is equally adept at clearing dry brush and weeds on steep highway embankments.

Remote Control Keeps Operators Safe

The operator can control the equipment remotely within a range of 1,000 feet. The TRAXX RF is designed to be a safer, more efficient alternative to traditional slope mowers — and easier to operate compared to other remote-controlled mowers, according to Alamo.

The TRAXX RF is designed to operate in difficult environments where other equipment may falter, explained Ian Burden, Alamo Industrial president.

“Its 1,000-foot remote-control range allows the operator to remain a safe distance away from dangerous conditions, while maintaining full control of the machine,” Burden said. “With its rubber tracks, steel cleats and spikes, and low center of gravity, the TRAXX RF easily handles extreme slopes and thrives in even the most challenging conditions.”

The remote controls are intuitively designed, Burden said, so most users feel comfortable operating the machine after just a few hours of training. The controller includes two separate joysticks for proportional track speed and steering control with an inverter switch to synchronize the stick functions to match the travel direction.

For extra safety, the controls include a one-touch emergency shut-off switch along with a secondary shutdown feature that triggers automatically if the operator drops the controller.

There are three piston pumps with a combined output of 30.8 gallons per minute, that supply power to each independent track drive motor as well as the cutter head power circuit.

The machine is also engineered to be environmentally friendly. The 40-hp diesel engine meets Tier 3 emission regulations. Additionally, the hydraulic system is prefilled with Panolin biodegradable oil.

“The TRAXX RF is unique in its versatility and ability to handle severe slopes up to 60 degrees,” Burden said. “The TRAXX RF is not only a mower; it is a hydraulic tool carrier with a range of interchangeable attachments for all-terrain operation.”

Among government fleet customers, popular attachments include the flail head for mowing applications and the heavy-duty bucket for land-clearing applications.
