Mohawk Weight Gauge

January 13 2009 - Products

Weight Gauge

Mohawk Lifts

AMSTERDAM, NY– Mohawk’s weight gauge (a scale on the lift itself) is now available for all Mohawk two-post lifts from 7,000 to 30,000 lb. capacities.

The weight gauge serves many purposes within a shop, including:

· The weight gauge is a diagnostic tool. Should customers complain of poor mileage or short brake pad life, knowing the actual weight of the vehicle will assist techs.

· The weight gauge will show no weight when the tech is properly using the lift and lowering the vehicle on to the lift’s mechanical safety locks.

· To assist in selling better brakes, heavier duty brakes, or tires with higher load ratings, customers with work trucks or SUVs can be shown actual weight to justify higher dollar parts installations.

· The weight gauge will verify that the lift is not being overloaded.

· Keep your technicians and your equipment safe by not overloading your lift. Mohawk’s weight gauge will measure vehicle weight to within 3% accuracy.

For more information, visit www.mohawklifts.com, or call Mohawk Lifts at (800) 833-2006.

Pay Me Now or Pay Me Later

By Mike Antich
Fleet maintenance costs are trending upward compared to prior years. The key reason is the higher frequency of repairs on higher-mileage units as a result of the widespread deferment of equipment replacement by many government fleets. In a true case of "pay me now or pay me later," fleet managers face the challenge of how to hold maintenance costs down while operating an aging fleet.

Poor Fleet Management Can Kill

By Eric Bearly
In good times, your fleet operation can become an easy target for policy-makers trying to find money for pet projects. In hard times, the size of that target can grow out of control. When lifecycles are extended to extreme lengths, staff cuts go too deep, replacement funds are pilfered and logical fleet policy is replaced with uneducated number crunching, the results can be deadly.
