TORRANCE, CA - At the 2011 Government Fleet Expo and Conference in San Diego, Calif. this year, one of the sessions involved fleet managers gathering into groups to solve specific challenges and then present that challenge to everyone attending the session. Each table’s group nominated someone to present their solution. The Government Fleet magazine staff took a number of individuals nominated to present solutions aside after the session and recorded them on video.

In the first three videos, shown below, you can see fleet managers’ solutions to a number of challenges that today’s public sector fleet manager faces.

In the first video, Bill DeRousse, retired fleet manager from the City of Everett, Wash., discusses his table's ideas for managing an aging fleet.

Next, Michael Brennan, fleet services division manager for Manatee County, Fla., discusses extending vehicle lifecycles.

The third video in this post features Joel Jordan, fleet services coordinator for the City of Anaheim, Calif. He discusses ideas for operating effectively in an environment with zero-growth budgets.

We'll be showing more videos in this series over the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned.
