OXNARD, CA - On Dec. 14, 2010, City of Oxnard Councilman Bryan MacDonald and Karen Burnham, assistant city manager, cut the ribbons on two new Fleet Services facilities — a 3,200 sq. foot outside work awning and a 1,600 sq. foot parts store.

Construction of both new facilities were planned and managed by General Services' Park and Facility Development staff, and the store construction was performed by Facilities Maintenance, according to Dan Berlenbach, Fleet Services manager.

The new metal work awning provides shelter from inclement weather and will primarily be used to service and repair the City's refuse truck fleet.  It includes a 50,000-lb. heavy-duty truck lift and sufficient space to work on four large refuse trucks simultaneously.

The new parts store houses the City's contracted repair parts operation. Contractors have gained tremendous efficiency due to the increased inventory storage space provided by this facility, which more than doubled the previous space. Their ability to support maintenance of the City's vehicle fleet has been significantly improved with this modern facility, according to Berlenbach.

The City's Fleet Services utilizes a total of three facilities.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony followed a luncheon for Fleet Services, which also celebrated Fleet Services' award of No. 4 of the 100 Best Fleets for 2010.
