OCEANSIDE, CA - Jeffery Hart has been named fleet supervisor for the City of Oceanside, Calif., after an interim period. He has been with the City for 20 years and was most previously lead automotive technician. Hart started in 1991 as a mechanic for the police department.

In his role, Hart will manage the City's fleet of 496 pieces of equipment (471 on-road vehicles and 25 off-road vehicles) and supervise a team of 13 personnel. The City has one maintenance location and three fueling stations.

Hart replaces retired Fleet Manager David Mills, who had headed the fleet department since 1999.

During his eight-month interim period, Hart has instituted a quality assurance program for all equipment and paperwork to help eliminate re-work and clerical back log, reduced storeroom inventory by returning old and obsolete parts in return for purchasing credits, auctioned out-of-date and antiquated shop tools and equipment to generate revenue for purchasing new equipment, and re-organized staff duties to assist with personnel shortages and excessive work loads, according to Hart.
