Arizona Public Service Signs Contract with MAXIMUS

ARTICLE TOOLS        | E-MailPrint RSS

RESTON, VA – MAXIMUS, a provider of fleet enterprise asset management (EAM) software and automated fuel systems, has signed a new fleet management software and implementation services contract with Arizona Public Service (APS).

APS’ fleet software initiative was launched to reduce the current cost of providing fleet management services to the corporation and obtain technology that will optimize transportation business processes.

After a competitive procurement process that included on-site demonstrations, client site visits, as well as a full analysis of the EAM software applications, APS selected MAXIMUS FleetFocus enterprise asset management software suite. APS was looking for a provider of out-of-the box utility fleet asset and maintenance management functionality, reporting, and analytics.

The APS fleet consists of approximately 3,600 vehicles including all types of leased, owned, and rented equipment: ATV’s, light-duty vehicles, class 8 trucks, and bulldozers, with a licensed motor vehicles count of more than 2,300. The APS fleet logs approximately 27 million miles per year and is maintained at 15 garages spread over a service territory of 35,000 square miles covering most of the state of Arizona. The fleet is managed and maintained by a staff of 67, consisting of 48 tool handlers, 5 partsmen, and 14 staff/management personnel.

Budget Constraints No. 1 Issue Facing Public Sector Fleets in 2009

By Mike Antich
Steep declines in tax revenues are resulting in budget cuts at all levels of government, which most likely will persist for the next 12 to 24 months. These budget shortfalls are particularly acute at general fund departments. Adjusting fleet budgets to cope with revenue shortfalls is emerging as the number one issue facing government fleets in 2009.
