Gwinnett County Moves Toward Alt-Fuels

ARTICLE TOOLS        | E-MailPrint RSS

ATLANTA – Gwinnett County currently closed bidding on a proposed fuel contract for 1.6 million gallons of E-10 and E-85 ethanol blends.

The county hasn’t committed to using ethanol in its vehicles, but until recently ethanol was not a realistic option to explore, said Michael Lindsey, Gwinnett’s director of fleet management, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“We could have looked at it a few years ago, but where could we get it?” he said, according to the Journal-Constitution. “I haven’t been in a position to buy it, even if I wanted.”

Dozens more E-85 stations are slated to open by the end of the year around Atlanta.
