County Commissioner Not Sweating High Gas Prices

ARTICLE TOOLS        | E-MailPrint

EAGLE COUNTY, CO – Government leaders in Eagle County are not feeling the pinch of high gas prices as much as others. Last year they switched 20 cars in their light fleet to hybrids, according to www.9NEWS.com.

“Eagle County has the largest hybrid fleet on the Western Slope of Colorado,” said Arn Menconi, the commissioner who pushed for the change, as quoted by www.9NEWS.com.

The County saved 21,000 gallons of unleaded fuel and averaged $2.25 a gallon, resulting in a $49,000 savings.

Because the cars did well this winter, Eagle County may add more hybrids to their fleet.
