Four Political Subdivisions Select FASTER as Fleet Management System

NORFOLK, VA – The following sites have purchased the FASTER fleet management system for implementation: City of Concord, N.C.; City of Pomona, Calif.; City of Bakersfield, Calif.; and Housing Authority, District of Columbia.

With the goal of providing the organization with tools to assist upper management and staff in maintaining and managing assets efficiently and cost effectively, the City of Concord, N.C., recently awarded its RFP contract to CCG/FASTER. Considered the largest city in Cabarrus County and its county seat, the City of Concord has an estimated population of 61,068. The City’s Fleet Services division has 1,000 pieces of mixed assets, with a shop consisting of 10 bays, five offices, and one parts room.

Similarly, seeking to procure a state-of-the-art, commercial off-the-shelf fleet management information system with full implementation services to replace its existing fleet application in use for more than 15 years, the City of Pomona, Calif., awarded its RFP contract to CCG/FASTER. With a population of 161,850 and located in the eastern portion of Los Angeles County in Southern California, the City of Pomona’s Utility Services Department/Equipment Maintenance Division (EMD) has a staff of 22, including 16 mechanics, and is responsible for maintaining and managing information for 138 police vehicles, 463 non-police vehicles (including large equipment), and 192 pieces of smaller equipment. The Division is responsible for equipment preventive maintenance and repair; fleet replacement planning; vehicle specification development, procurement, and disposal; fuel and alternative-fuels program administration; parts inventory management; vendor supervision; and ensuring compliance with State and Federal laws.

After several years of thoroughly considering the return on investment and benefits of installing FASTER, the City of Bakersfield, Calif., purchased FASTER. With an estimated population of 323,213, the City of Bakersfield lies near the southern tip of the San Joaquin valley and the southern tip of the Sierra Nevadas to the east. With a fleet size of 1,300, the City of Bakersfield’s Fleet Services Division is responsible for the acquisition, maintenance and repair of the city fleet vehicles and equipment. Services include scheduled preventive maintenance, welding and fabrication, diagnostic and emissions testing, auto parts warehouse and inventory functions.

Based on a recommendation from the District of Columbia Public Works (one of our customers), the District of Columbia Housing Authority purchased the FASTER fleet management system to help manage its 250 assets. The DC Housing Authority is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in the District of Columbia by providing and effectively managing affordable housing for people of low and moderate income.

FASTER’s complete, real-time, easily accessible data enhances management staffs’ ability to make proactive decisions to maximize availability, usage, and cost effectiveness of resources. This results in improved customer service, repairs, and maintenance services, and increased staff efficiency and productivity, according to FASTER. FASTER serves fleet operations in 41 states and Canada with a support team committed to the success of each customer.
