Elsa City Vehicles Not Insured

ARTICLE TOOLS        | E-MailPrint
ELSA, TEXAS - Elsa city vehicles are driving city streets without insurance. City is negotiating to re-instate coverage. According to NEWSCHANNEL 5 TV’s Web Site learned the city's been without insurance for a month.

Elsa City Manager Oscar Cuellar says the lack of insurance leaves things like police cars and maintenance trucks unprotected.

"It was part of what we discussed, when we were cutting our costs because we had no money to pay for our insurance," says Cuellar.

But Cuellar adds if there is an accident, the city is going to be responsible.

NEWSCHANNEL 5 TV We're told that the city is working to solve the problem. They're negotiating with the Texas Municipal League to re-instate the coverage. Elsa’s city manager expects the coverage to be back in place within the next two weeks.
