TUCSON, AZ - Tucson Fire trucks and almost all city vehicles running on diesel fuel have gone green, according to the Web site www.kold.com.

The initiative started back in 2006 with a pilot program.

The city switched from diesel to biodiesel at the beginning of 2007. The Fire departments trucks along with the city’s fleet make up 470 vehicles running on the bio blend.

Right now the city’s paying $3.70 per gallon of biodiesel. They’re getting regular diesel at $3.86 per gallon. On average, Tucson Fleet Services says the city saves $.06 per gallon by using biodiesel.
