Stolen
Vehicle Recovery and Mobile Information System
(This system is available in Los Angeles only)
Instant Vehicle Location Means Rapid Recovery
Car thefts and carjackings continue to be a serious problem in the United States.
Teletracer gives you the opportunity to recover your stolen vehicle quickly.
Teletracer is simply the most effective system at helping to locate and recover
your vehicle. Once you’ve called in and reported the theft to police, Teletracer
uses advanced wireless technology to direct police to its location in real-time,
so the vehicle can be recovered quickly, with less potential for damage. And
unlike the other leading tracking system, law enforcement vehicles don’t
need a "beeper unit" on board. Any law enforcement agency can be led
directly to the vehicle, any time. Best of all, Teletracer offers you a better
vehicle location system for about the same price.
How Teletracer works.
Teletracer uses computer software mapping technology linked to an on-board Vehicle
Location Unit (VLU). Land-based towers receive a signal from the VLU. In a matter
of seconds, longitude and latitude are calculated and sent to the monitoring
station and displayed on a computerized map. Now you have the security of knowing
your vehicle is protected by the most advanced technology available.

The
Prism (GPRS Vehicle Location Unit)
The Prism
is a two way messaging and location unit that uses General Packet Radio Service
(GPRS) networks combined with Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) technology
to provide accurate vehicle location and instant messaging between the driver
and you.
The Prism
unit locates the vehicle using Global Positioning System (GPS) technology, and
communicates the location information to the Internet-based FleetDirector software
via GPRS technology, a packet-based wireless communication service for data.
GPRS is designed to give users faster and easier access to data over the Internet
with continuous connectivity, enabling applications such as Teletrac’s
FleetDirector to quickly communicate location information. GPRS also allows
users to stay connected to the Internet at all times and download information
faster, as no time is spent attempting to access a dial-up connection..

is a two-way messaging and location unit that uses Teletrac’s own
networks
to provide accurate vehicle location and instant messaging between the driver
and you.
Teletrac
pioneered location based fleet management solutions and has invested over $300m
in these networks. Teletrac operates networks in Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Houston,
Los Angeles and San Diego.
The network
determines the unit’s location and this allows Teletrac to provide a unique
low cost solution to your fleet management needs.

Asset
Tracking Unit (ATU)
The ATU
is a location and messaging device designed specifically for trailer installation.
The ATU is configured to work with minimal power requirements and can include
connection to back-up battery and solar panel power to provide security and
location capabilities for non-powered equipment such as trailers.
The ATU
uses Cellemetry Data Services combined with Global Positioning Satellite (GPS)
technology to provide accurate location together with status and alert messaging
for trailers and other high value equipment in the field.
Teletrac
partners with Numerex for the Cellemetry service, which works in conjunction
with the analogue cellular networks and has the broadest nationwide coverage
of any cellular technology.

Message
Display Terminal (MDT)
The MDT
is a two-way communications device that works in conjunction with a VLU or VLU+.
The MDT allows the driver to send and receive preprogrammed status messages;
views detailed free text messages and enter text and numeric data into pre-defined
forms.
All communications
are confirmed: when the driver receives a message, Fleet Director sends a verification
notice to the dispatcher. These devices can even send or receive messages when
the vehicle is turned off.
Information such as next job address can easily be sent to the driver and is
available in the MDT for the driver to recall later. Plus, FleetDirector keeps
a full history of messages in its central database.
