Poor Fleet Management Can Kill

In good times, your fleet operation can become an easy target for policy-makers trying to find money for pet projects. In hard times, the size of that target can grow out of control. When lifecycles are extended to extreme lengths, staff cuts go too deep, replacement funds are pilfered and logical fleet policy is replaced with uneducated number crunching, the results can be deadly.

My Fleet is Better than Your Fleet

Okay… so I don’t have a fleet… unless you consider my two vehicles, bike and a really old push mower a fleet. Some of you smaller municipalities are probably thinking my “fleet” sounds a lot like your fleet. Also, to be honest, my “fleet” is not better than your fleet, because it is poorly managed.

We have been talking (complaining may be a better description) for years about how the fleet management arena has not gotten the attention it deserves. We were justified in our complaints but it looks like those days are over... and for all the wrong reasons.
