The City of Jackson, Miss., unveiled 46 vehicles with a new look last week in a move that its police chief said will boost morale for officers.

“Over the last few years, we have not purchased new vehicles for our officers. We have had officers who have been riding in vehicles that do not have adequate AC and did not demonstrate the safest conditions,” Mayor Chokwe Lumumba said in a press conference. He added that more new vehicles will be arriving.

The vehicles are 2018 Ford Police Interceptor Sedans. The new design includes a distinct orange stripe, one that Lumumba said will allow the vehicles to “stand out.”

They new cars $1.3 million, the Jackson Free Press reported.
